"The History of Jon Bluming"(seen below)

This is the personal message written to Kancho Raffi Liven from Kancho Jon Bluming.  It says "May the Gods smile Upon You! Osu. Jon Bluming, Kaicho of the IBK, for one of the best teachers and fighters I have ever seen.  My friend Raffi Liven 9th Dan of the IBK.

Various Pictures of Kancho Liven with Kancho Jon Bluming- for almost 20 years Kancho Raffi Liven has been an active member of the Kyokushin Budo Kai Organization, and is currently the Dai Shihan in Denmark!

The Euro-asian Kyukushinkai Championship 1998 in Russia

In may 1998 Shihan Liven was invited to Russia, as a chief referee and a guest of honor to the Euro-asian Kyukushinkai Championchips held in the beautiful town by the Black Sea, Novorossiyk. At the same time the Sho Shin Karate Do Russia Organisation asked him to be the coach for their competitors. On this trip he took two of his strongest fighters with him: Ariel Mastof who short time before became the world havyweight champion of the Kubokan full contact tournament in Tokyo Japan, for the 3'th year in a row. Ariel Mastof also is a Kyukushinkai national champion of havyweight. The second fighter was Arman Raydler. EAC - Championchip Russia 1998, Arman Raydler - Sho Shin Karate Do

The  Euro-asian Kyukushinkai Championchip is a competition with fighters of a very high level. Specially the russian fighters are very tough and almost impossible to overcome. With his 65 kg Arman Raydler was the smallest competitor, but on his way to the final, he knocked down several opponents of more than 90 kg. In fact. almost all of the knock down victories in the competition, were delivered by Arman Raydler. In his first fight he met a Grusian fighter of 98 kg. They both started out easy. But is was obviously that the grusian thought that his little opponent was a piece of cake. he could eat with his hands tied on his back. They exchanged a few low kicks and some knocks to the stomach. Suddenly Arman exploded, five - six very strong low kicks, one right hand blow to the solar plexus and the big guy was down.  EAC - Championchip Russia 1998, Arman Raydler - Sho Shin Karate DoGrusians never give up, so the fight went on, but in reality it was over and Arman won on points. Likewise he was fighting four times to get to the final. One fight he stopped by three low kicks, one step back and then to everybodies surprise, a spinning back kick that sends his 110 kg heavy opponent flying out from the tatami.- He did not come back. In the final he met a heavy clumsy Ukrainian, who climbed on him and held him tight to prevent him from doing anything. When Arman a few times got free, he managed to land some low kicks and hookpunches under the ribs. The Ukrainian did not like that he returned a few blows and hit Arman with a strong punch to his throat. EAC - Championchip Russia 1998, Arman Raydler - Sho Shin Karate Do This made it difficult for Arman to breath and than he received more than he gave. In the end he lost with a few points and won a honorable 2. place. But the morally winner of the competition was with no doubt Arman Raydler. With his weight of 65 kg he was the smallest competitor and still the biggest fighter.

Ariel Mastof had to face some very strong fighters on his way. But just married and having his mind on his new house and family, he ended up with the 5. place. The biggest story among the competitors and arrangers of this years competition. was about the little fighter from Sho Shin Karate Do, who went into every fight with no fear and a great spirit, who beat up everybody who stand against him and ending the final only 3 seconds from the first place.

1. International Liven Summer Cup 2001

Beside our tradition of organizing a competition in Arhus (DK) in february - this year we had our 16. International Liven cup with around 200 participants from different countries - we made a second competition on 23. June 2001, our first international summer Karate competition.

The idea behind having a competition in the summer is to give the opportunity not only to come to Denmark for competing but also to stay for a few days after the competition to take part in a martial arts summer camp and last not least enjoy a few days at the nice beaches of the Baltic Sea as well as experience the danish night life at a cosy pub or "wild" discotheque :)

At the competition we had around 80 participants from Denmark, Israel, England, Czechoslovakia and Germany. We were missing around 30 fighters more from Russia, Morocco and India. It was a big problem that this teams did not receive visas to come to Denmark because they applied for it to late. For the future we can only ask teams from those countries which needs to get a visa to inform themselves about the visa regulations or to contact us for help and information as soon as possible.

Beside this it was a succesful competition, with a sporty and fair atmosphere. We saw good up to very good demonstrations of Kata and Kumite especially many young talents that promise to be a big potential for the future. Already at the competition we welcomed our special guest from Holland Kencho Jon Bluming (10 th dan).

See the result from the competition here!

Liven Martial Arts Summer Camp 2001

After our 1. International Liven Summer Cup 2001 nobody went home. The participants from the Karate competition together with more guests from Norway and members of Krav Maga Liven International from Denmark stayed for a Martial arts summer camp in Arhus (DK).
At the seminar three Masters were teaching Karate, Krav Maga and absolute fighting techniques. Shihan Raffi Liven (9 th dan) the host from Denmark and the guests Kencho Jon Bluming (10 th dan) from Holland and Danny Hazan (6 th dan) from Israel.

Training with Kencho Jon Bluming (10th Dan Kyokushin, 9th Dan Judo, 4th Dan Bo-Jitsu, 4th Dan Iai-Jitsu, 4th Jodo, 2nd Dan Kendo)

Jon Bluming 68 years old today is one of the pioneers of the european Karate. His name is inseparably related to the Kyokushinkai Karate. As one of the closest students of Mas Oyama he brought Kyokushinkai Karate to Europe in 1962. He is the founder and president of the Organisation "The International Budo Kaikan" which is a combination of Kyokushin Karate, Ju Jitsu, Judo and an All-round fighting system. Like the meaning behind the symbol of this organisation - the wave - Kencho Bluming was explaining to react like water in any situation adjusting to an attack and react like a wave, smashing the opponent. It is not possible to pass on more than 40 years of experience in martial arts at a short seminar, but the students got an interesting insight to the principles of different block techniques and counter attacks with arms and legs and grappling techniques on the ground.

Training with Shihan Raffi Liven (9th Dan Karate, 8th Dan Krav Maga)

The training with Shihan Raffi Liven was devided into two parts: first Krav Maga self defence and second Karate techniques.

Krav Maga
What is new for people from other martial arts with Krav Maga is for instance that there is no one, two anymore like blocking first and counter attack second. In Krav Maga you have just one - blocking with one hand and counter attack in the same time with the other hand or even using the blocking arm for a counter attack in the same time.

Any technique is made as short and effective as possible. Becide the first principles of Krav Maga defending against different attacks also with weapons were taught. A main part was the defence against a knife attack and to unarm the opponent.

Karate
The Karate training with Shihan Liven was like usually very demanding. After a small part of basic techniques (Kihon) he went straight into different partner exercises to be used for Karate fighting (Kumite). The techniques he taught are especially interesting for competitors, fighting after the new rules of the WKF where you can receive 3 points for throwing the opponent to the ground and finishing the fight with a hand technique after. So the focus was laying on different ways of attacking and finishing the attack with a throw or how to react on the opponents attack with a throwing technique. A second main part was the training of different advanced leg techniques like combinations of kicks and how to block an opponents attack with a front Yoko-geri (side-kick).

Training with Danny Hazan (6th Dan Shotokan, 6th Dan Saishio Ki Do, 6th Dan Krav Maga, 4th Dan Kobudo, 2th Dan Kick Boxing)

Danny Hazan the founder of the Saishio Ki Do with his roots in Shotokan Karate is a well known Karate Master and Krav Maga expert in Israel. In this seminar he was teaching absolute fighting a fighting art where everything is allowed. His focus was mainly on ground techniques like lock techniques with the legs.

Last not least - The funny part part

Becide competing and hard training there was of course also time for relaxing and having fun talking about martial arts and getting in touch with each other. The team with the longest way from Israel arrived already a few days before the competition. So they had time to visit some sights outside from Arhus like a big horse farm and of course the town itself with its Tivoli and the historical danish town "Den gamle by" which is a very famous open-air museum with around 75 restored buildings from all around Denmark dating from the 17th- and 18th centuries. Because of the weather was warm but not as warm as it is supposed to be in June there were only a view with no fear for the cold who were ready to jump into the sea. Nevertheless everybody enjoyed a nice barbeque on the roof of the dojo with lots of lamb cutletts, sausages and salads ...

All together it was an exiting martial arts event with many new experiences and we hope to welcome our guests from this year together with the teams from India, Morocco and Russia who missed us and new people from all over the world again in August 2001 in Arhus Denmark for the
